Nike SB ("SB" for skateboarding) was launched in 2001, Nike 6.0 (named for six action sports activities) was started in 2005, and Nike Snow (covering snowboarding and skiing) was launched in 2007.
Women are under-represented among the top-earning athletes as Sharapova emerged the only athlete in the distaff side to make it to the top 50 for the second straight year. She ranks 29th with earnings of $24.2 million, largely from her lucrative Nike Zoom Kobe deal, which pays her royalties on her lines of tennis apparel and Cole Haan shoes.
Completing the top 10 list of highest paid athletes are tennis’ Roger Federer, 4th; golf’s Phil Mickelson, 5th; soccer’s David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo, 6th and seventh; Alex Rodriguez of baseball,8th; racing ace Michael Schumacher, 9th; and Lionel Messi, also of soccer, 10th.
Federer is listed to have the most impressive endorsement portfolio in sports with 10, including those with Women's Nike Dunks Low, Credit Suisse, Rolex and Wilson, where most of his $47million income comes from. Mickelson, in spite of having been diagnosed to have been suffering from psoriatic arthritis, still able to earn $46 million. Becham earned $40 million in the same period, Ronaldo $38 million, Rodriguez $35 million, Schumacher $34 million and Messi $32.3 million. The magazine’s figures were based on salaries, bonuses, prize money, appearance fees, licensing and endorsement income in the 12 months ending May 1. Taxes or agents’ fees were not deducted.
And in 2002, Nike Dunks purchased Hurley International LLC, an established action sports brand based in Costa Mesa, Calif. Hurley is often a co-sponsor with Nike of action sports events, as is another Nike subsidiary, Converse Inc. of North Andover, Mass.
"They've been going after the action sports market for a while now," said Mitchel J. Kummetz, a senior research analyst specializing in active and outdoor sportswear for the Robert W. Baird & Co., Inc. "Initially to no real avail -- which is part of the reason they acquired Hurley."
Nike also stumbled in its first marketing presentations to the action sports core. The initial commercials of at least a decade ago, Kummetz said, indicated the company did not identify with the consumers they were pursuing.
Sneaker customizer Vursus of Germany has just created a kick many will wish went into production. Taking cues from the South Beach edition of the Nike LeBron 8s, Versus has dubbed his creation the csdunks Air Max 1 “Miami Vice.” The color blocking on these kicks screams Miami, and will pair up perfectly with a wide collar, short-sleeved, white button up. Though the colors are rich and ornate, the schematic is fairly simple with a teal base offset by black and infrared accents. The look is driven home via the icy infrared sole. Though these kicks may be a one-off, you can due your best to replicate the look on csdunks.
But about five or six years ago, Women's Nike Air Force 1 got lucky. "It's almost like the market discovered them versus them doing a lot to create demand for their product," Kummetz said.

3 Basha juniors headed to Nike Elite 100
Dirk Nowitzki is only four games away from winning his first ever NBA Championship. Nike is commemorating the event with a special Nike Hyperdunk 2010 Dirk Nowitzki PE. This pair sports a simple yet elegant design. A predominately white upper is complimented with blue and black accents on the tongue, laces, Swoosh, heel cup, inner liner, midsole and outsole. This is reminiscent of another Dirk Nowitzki PE we previewed last month. Which pair looks better?
With James now three victories away from his first NBA title, the Nike endorser is expanding his business portfolio via a financial stake in a planned retail store owned by Chris Julian and other investors. Details via a media alert Thursday: On the heels of a stunning Game 1 victory over the Dallas Mavericks Tuesday night and on the brink of a possible first championship, NBA MVP, business mogul and fashion icon LeBron James has announced that he will launch a new, modern luxury concept store in Miami for fall 2011. The store, which will open with a mix of apparel, footwear, printed materials and lifestyle accouterments, with featured brands to include A.P.C., Original Fake and Nike Tier 0 product, will be called Unknwn.
The amazing fact about this sneaker is that Nike Dunks has not set any time limit for its release yet, but a lot of followers are keeping a regular track on any news or updates related to it. We have seen many interesting and unique colorways of Nike Zoom Hyperfuse being released off-late. Here, we are looking at a Hyperfuse that is a combination of the cleanest and the simplest colorways, but it is placed with the attributes of comfort and toughness, the signs of core-sportsmanship. Although, not yet released, but once you put your eyes upon it, you would really want it to be within your reach as soon as possible.
The to-be-launched soon, this highly appraised sneaker Nike Hyperfuse is said to be coming in a white royal blue colorway. The upper is predominantly made in white base accented with royal blue. This Zoom Hyperfuse has set itself apart from other Hyperfuse kicks through its unique details and color scheme.
An all-white upper is complemented with royal blue swooshes, mid-sole, liners and laces. The main feature that sets it apart from any other colorways is the unusual diamond design in royal blue, on a wide area covering the ankle from one border of the tongue to the other. The ventilated fuse uppers and flywire are other features that add to this Nike Zoom Hyperfuse’s attractions. The trademark beauty and comfort parameters have been definitely retained in this Hyperfuse as well.

NIKE HAS THE BEST RELATIVE PERFORMANCE IN THE FOOTWEAR INDUSTRY
Here are the latest colorways from Nike Air Max 90 collection due out in Fall. Priced at $140 USD, available in black, navy and red slated for a late July release date. I can definitely see myself buying all 3 colorways for this summer, stay tune for more details and be sure to check with your local Nike retailers for more release details.
Following up on the initially seen Air Max 1 Hyperfuse, Custom Nike Sportswear also apply Hyperfuse technology to its ultra iconic Air Force 1. Much like its performance counterpart, the Air Force 1 version features a three layer construction that embodies stability, breathability and durability. Look for a release via select Nike Sportswear retailers in the near future.
Continuing to dig up a number of vintage styles from its archives, Nike has re-issueed the classic Vintage Low model in this sinful, red and white colorway. Made from a genuine suede upper with a contrasting white vulcanized sole, elongated swoosh and cotton laces, the sneaker is all you need to put the finishing touches on your summer look.
It’s easy to think of the Nike SB Zoom FP as just another skate shoe. The silhouette is simple, clean and can often be overlooked when placed in side-by-side comparisons to other Nike Dunks SB models. However, it remains one of the most technically sound kicks in the skating realm. Designed by Eric Koston, this pair uses an abrasion-resistant upper, Zoom Air, a slip-on inner bootie, exterior heel support, and an extremely sticky outsole with improved flex pattern. This particular colorway features a great mix of white and gold tones with a stripe on the forefoot midsole. Look for this pair to hit most Women's Nike Dunks High retailers later this summer.
It's official: 6-foot-10 junior-to-be Maurice Kirby is now a Basha Bear. Coach Brad Pinter said the forward/center, Arizona State commit enrolled in the school on Wednesday. Kirby will be playing basketball at his third high school in three years. He started his career at Flagstaff High. He played his sophomore season at Poston Butte, where he averaged double figures scoring and rebounding.

The Stat Line Of The Night — 5/31/11
In 11 MLB seasons, Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano has a .240 average at the plate. In 641 at bats, he has struck out a total of 226 times, which equals over one-third of his at bats. Therefore, you would think that the 30-year-old from Venezuela would be used to striking out these days, but that didn’t appear to be the case last night during a game against the Houston Astros.
With a runner in scoring position, Zambrano whiffed on strike three, ending the inning and causing him to take his frustrations out on the bat.
At first, it appeared as though the bat would survive Zambrano’s wrath, but as every Gatorade cooler knows, Zambrano’s wrath is never complete after only one blow.
In case you were wondering, the Astros scored 6 runs in the ninth inning, en route to the 7-3 come-from-behind victory. Here is a look at Zambrano’s bat-breaking blowup.

Nike Stock To Go Ex-dividend Tomorrow (NKE)
Daniel Ghattas, 21, of Woodland Hills, had been in line since 4 p.m. Tuesday to make sure he would be able to get a pair. "I've been collecting Nike Dunks shoes since I was 4-years-old," said Ghattas.
In the 10 days after the Minnesota Lynx made Maya Moore the No. 1 pick in April's WNBA draft, the team sold more than 250 season tickets to new buyers, including men who never have attended a league game.
She became the first women's basketball player to sign with Kid's Nike Dunks Jordan Brand. Lynx sponsors and other WNBA teams have asked about building marketing campaigns around her.
"I'm here to play basketball, to be a great basketball player," Moore said. "That's what I love. But that's given me the opportunity to have a voice, and I want to use it in a meaningful way."
The 33 year old Haroshi is a sustainable focused artist and skateboarder based in Tokyo. Though he has been creating amazing pieces of sculpture from recycled skateboards for almost a decade, he had been operating under America's radar until earlier this year. All that changed when he was commissioned to create a Dunk shoe by Nike Dunks SB, and create he did. The result was a 3D sculpture made out of skateboards once used by the Nike SB skateboarding team.
The shoes were sold for $110 nationwide and are said to be on sale for this one time only. Customers were limited to one pair of shoes each, and received bracelets to be able to go inside the store.
The Nike store in Camarillo let customers inside in groups of about five to buy the shoes. The shoes were sold out in less than an hour and many people were left without a pair.

2011 Nike EYBL Session #3, Los Angeles
The successor Nike Dunks Project came to Pittsburgh in the mid-1950s. Named for the Greek goddess of victory, the anti-aircraft missile system the Army developed consisted of a site for radar and a launch to house missiles. The two components were located within miles of each other and staffed by Army personnel and Guard units.
Once the long holiday weekend is over, head on over to your local skate shop, as the Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski “Woodgrain” is expected to begin shipping early this week. The shoe features an eye-catching brown woodgrain over the upper, against a tonal Swoosh, leather laces and a contrasting white midsole. Hit the jump for a couple more looks, including one of the really dope cork-style insole, and feel free to let us know who is stocking this shoe already.
The Nike sites cost about $1 million each and included three underground missile silos, personnel shelters, test buildings, generator buildings, administrative buildings and barracks.
Though summer may just have started shining in the Northeast, the innovators at the Nike Blazer SB Low Sportswear design kitchen are already looking towards the cooler months to unveil their latest kick creations. For fall 2011 Nike Sportswear has spruced up the Air Max 1 with a canvas coated upper and three newly color-blocked patters to choose from. The look for the time honored classic is subtle and sophisticated, and will make a handsome addition to any sneaker collection. All three options are off-set with one accent color, a white mid-sole and inner lining to drive the clean look home. While you may already have a few pairs of Air Max 1s in your weekly repertoire, it never hurts to intersperse some canvas in your life for a refined style. Check for these once schools starts back in session.
Young worked in missile maintenance for the Army and then became a warrant officer with the Guard, working as a systems repair technician. In the early 1960s, he was stationed in Indiana Township and then at the North Park launch site as a missile assembly technician.
To document the impact of this drop in enforcement, professor Qian put together data on production costs, sales, and retail prices for 31 brands with serious business in China, including multinational giants like Nike Zoom Kobe and Reebok and local favorites like Li-ning and Anta, each with Chinese market shares comparable to Nike's. She obtained similar figures for counterfeiters from QTSB and records seized from counterfeit factories by enforcement authorities.

next summer's Olympic Games
It is not only the athletes that will be competing for first place at next summer's Olympic Games. Adidas, the German sportswear brand, plans to use the games as a springboard to overtake its arch rival Nike Dunks as the biggest sportswear company in the UK.
Custom Nike Dunks is currently market leader in the UK with an 18pc share of the ultra-competitive £4.3bn sportswear market. Adidas is in second place with a 15pc share, but hopes that its status as official sportswear partner of the Games will help it achieve its goal of overtaking Nike by 2015 at the latest.
As well as kitting out the athletes in 25 of the 26 Olympic sports – equestrianism requires very specialised equipment – Adidas will dress the 70,000 Olympic volunteers, provide the outfits for the pre-games torch relay and create clothing for the athletes to wear in the Olympic Village.
Adidas is also the Games' official clothing licensee, and will sell Olympic-themed and branded clothes through its own stores and third-party retailers, such as Tesco and Asda. On top of this, it has appointed Stella McCartney, the designer and daughter of Sir Paul, as the creative director of Team GB. She will provide the team with garments such as their signature tracksuits and has also designed more fashionable "capsule" ranges that will be available on the high street. (High street retailer Next will provide Team GB with their formalwear, such as the suits for the opening ceremony.)

What would you pay to see 2,000 sneakers?
They are the five people who outbid everyone else on eBay to win a Willy Wonka-style tour of the ShoeZeum, a warehouse in San Diego's Old Town containing a private collection of 2,000 Nike sneakers, 200 Michael Jordan posters and a ton of sports memorabilia and baubles.
They collectively paid $1,060.80 for the privilege to peek inside the ShoeZeum last Saturday night and bring a single guest. The winning bids ranged from $170 to $255. Auction proceeds went to LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation, a big Nike High charity.
According to The Isles of Scilly Steamship Company, Nike Engineering will continue to provide marine and mechanical engineering services to the Isles of Scilly and it will continue to be based at the Porthmellin Industrial Estate.
Current proprietors Nigel Bromham and Keith Symons will also continue be work for Nike Engineering.
Jeff Marston, chief executive of the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company, said: "We are delighted to acquire Nike Engineering Limited and expand our portfolio with the addition of this important business on St Mary’s. The acquisition of Nike Engineering Limited will provide more choice for our customers and means that we can continue to expand on the diverse range of services that the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company offers.
“Nigel and Keith are two dedicated, skilled and experienced professionals and we would like to reassure people that it will be business as usual. We hope that we can continue to work with them to further improve the high levels of service already provided. Nike Engineering has established a great reputation for efficiency, quality and competency and we want to build on this by maximising opportunities for servicing existing clients, as well as attracting new business."
The ShoeZeum is the brain child of USD law and business school graduate Jordan Geller. It's the warehouse where he built a successful business buying new Nikes at discount and selling hundreds of them a day online. Now, it reeks of sneaker history that makes Nike LeBron executives board jets in Oregon to visit.
The tour for the Golden Ticket winners began at 7 p.m. and quickly exceeded expectations. Geller brought in Phil's BBQ for dinner, gave each person a pair of mounted black Nike Dunks and paint to personalize each set and stayed past 1 a.m. with the handful of people who couldn't bring themselves to leave.
"Going into it, I thought it was just going to be a little one-hour tour and then he'd send us on our merry way, but boy was a I wrong," Arce said.
Arce is a San Diego firefighter. He's 37 and probably has about 120 shoes himself. In the past five years, his collecting has slowed down. Now, he just buys shoes for his children, 4 and 2.
Purser, 27, works in information technology in the U.S. Navy and was the last person out the door at the end of the tour. He has several hundred pairs of shoes in his own collection and has his mounted Nike Dunks on his turtle tank.

Nike calls out Charles Barkley for his criticism of Lebron James
To say Nike Dunks is very protective of Lebron James is an understatement...... remember a couple of years ago when Jamal Crawford dunked on James at a summer camp and Nike scrambled to have all footage seized into their possession?
Well now Nike has taken it to another level but calling Charles Barkley to ask him to tone it down concerning his treatment of James. Barkley has actually always been a fan of Lebron's on the court play but soured last summer on James off the court demeanor after witnessing the debacle known as the Decision.
The synthetic field consists of 111,165 square feet of Astroturf. The entire expansion is 20 acres, bringing the entire complex, named after one of 18 Nike Air Defense Systems from the Cold War, to just over 45 acres.
Piszynski stressed the timeliness of the construction, saying, “we’re on time,” and guaranteed the quality of the work.
“We met the goals and expectations the residents have … the quality is a reflection on us,” he said.
The complex is scheduled to open for use July 16.
Piszynski pointed out that the expansion definitely fills a need for the district.
“The north side of town is a little more land-locked,” he said. “There isn’t as much opportunity for these types of programs up here.”
A recent incident of “tagging” on the complex main building won’t delay the project’s completion.
Naperville Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators who defaced the new project.

Nike designer describes life inside the Innovation Kitchen
While a lot of sneaker fans out there are definitely opposed to the idea of hybrid sneakers, there are a whole lot of sneakers that are of the hybrid variety that simply feature designs that are so nice that no sneakerhead is able to pass them up. While this may be a harder feat to pull off with the Air Jordan sneakers, for sneakers in the Nike LeBron lineup it is much easier. Recently a shoe released that almost no one was able to say they didn’t like and we are going to be looking at the latest version today. This is the new Nike Air Max 24-7 in Black, Challenge Red and Varsity Red.
Sharapova showed shades of play in the peach and pale blue dress she wore in Melbourne. The lemon Maria Line 9 dress (MSRP: $120) she’ll wear in Paris takes its design aesthetic from the Tower, according to Nike Dunks designers, offering a yellow criss-cross pattern across the front.
“We really looked to the design of the (Eiffel Tower) in building something very strong yet lightweight and breathable,” Lucena says of the new dress, which offers a built-in bra for support and a double-layered skirt with a brighter yellow under layer, covered with a light-weight mesh top.
Matching white-and-yellow Lunarlon Speed 3 shoes (MSRP: $120) complete Sharapova’s outfit. The shoes feature extra durable rubber on the outsole and toe tip for protection and support when sliding.
The South Lakes Boys and Girls track teams hosted the Nike Spring Invitational on Saturday.
The meet brought together 15 of the area's top programs. The boys team won the team title and the girls placed fifth as a team. Sean Price and Emily Lopynski won individual titles.
With the postseason still to come, there have already been numerous post season qualifiers. Qualifying for the state championship: Sean Price in the 100 meter dash,, 200 meter dash, high jump, and triple jump; Armando Drain in the 300 meter hurdles, and Kyannah Calhoun in the 800 meter run.
This shoe which has been pretty much universally accepted will feature a black upper with accents of both challenge red and varsity red. Take a closer look at it and tell us what you think.

Many ways for college programs to develop NBA talent
Consider two college programs -- Kentucky and Pittsburgh -- both at the pinnacle of the sport, but polar opposites in the way they go about their business, as the upcoming NBA Draft clearly illustrates.
This week, Kentucky made news by conducting its own mini combine, designed to give the NBA a better look at its four draft-worthy players, not counting big man Enes Kanter, who was ruled ineligible by the NCAA and didn't play this season. He's been working out at ATTACK Athletics in Chicago. Underclassmen who declare for the draft have until May 8 to decide whether to stay in or return to school, but they aren't allowed to travel and work out for NBA teams.
Thus, the NBA came to Kentucky, 20 teams in all. And those teams weren't represented by scouts, but by general managers and directors of player personnel -- the decision makers. The star attractions in Lexington were point guard Brandon Knight and forward Terrence Jones, both projected to be lottery picks. Based on the feedback he received, Knight announced Friday morning he would remain in the draft. That was hardly a shocker. Jones' decision to stay in school, announced Saturday, was a bit surprising, but his intentions are good. "I've decided to come back and help us get back to the Final Four and bring the Big Blue Nation a national championship," he said.
In just two seasons -- and three full recruiting classes, all ranked No. 1 in the country by Rivals.com -- Kentucky coach John Calipari has established a pattern. He's going to recruit the best players in the country, and if they leave after one season -- Kentucky has seen five one-and-doners breeze through campus the last two years -- so be it. There are plenty of great players waiting behind them. The Wildcats' incoming class includes four five-star prospects, including power forward Anthony Davis, who some believe would be the top pick in the 2011 draft if he were allowed to be included.

Do William & Kate Have Bad Taste In Music?nike dunks
Unless you’ve been locked in a closet in an underground bunker for the last two months, then you probably know every damn detail of William and Kate’s wedding except for maybe the color of the bride’s underwear. Does she seem like a thong or a brief girl to you? Bra or no bra? Don’t be a prude, I’m American and monarchy means nothing here unless you are talking rap or rock royalty. But I digress.
Following the Nike Dunk High “French Football Federation” we showed you a couple of days ago, we have now spotted a Nike ACG-esque Dunk exclusively constructed for the women. Beige suede covers the toe area and midfoot, while an off-white shade is spotted on the toe box and side panels. Other features include an orange swoosh, an orange inner lining, a purple collar and a purple/orange speckled midsole.
Obvs William and Kate needed some sort of entertainment at their post-wedding shindig at Buckingham Palace. Being that Wills is a royal and has access to coffers of cash the average person can’t even begin to understand, this kid can pretty much have whatever he likes—meaning Kate, by extension can, too. So why the hell did they want rising British pop star Ellie Goulding to perform at their reception?
You get one chance people—your first wedding only happens once so you should go all out. With all of the talent coming out Brittan, this young couple could have chosen anyone to perform: Jessie J, Adele, George Michael, Boy George. (Those last two would be my top choices. Don’t judge. I like white men who sing like black women. Besides, felons can sing, too.) Hell, they could have chosen the Spice Girls. Picture Scary Spice in a crop top booty popping on Prince Charles during a kick ass rendition of “Wannabe.” But Ellie Goulding? She performed what I’m sure was a rousing round of Elton John’s “Your Song,” but come on. This chick isn’t all that. She has Bjork-like moments—why the hell didn’t they order up Bjork?—but the rest is just a bit unmoving and shrill. Or maybe ho-hum. Or humdrum. Maybe I’m just being a bitch. Or maybe I’m too old to enjoy this boppy shit. Since I just said “boppy”—being too old wins.

Brooklyn Projects x Nike SB Dunk High Preview
It is funny sometimes how much a slight change can make a huge difference in a pair of shoes. Sneaker customizers definitely know this but still they usually end up making a whole lot of changes to a shoe before they are done with it. In some cases though all it takes is just a little bit of alterations to take an already great shoe and turn it into something truly spectacular. Today we are going to be taking a look at a little change going a very long way, this is the new Nike LeBron 8 Blackout Infrared Custom.
Despite what the title may suggest, these shoes bear no inspiration from any projects, MARCY or otherwise in Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Projects x Nike Dunks SB High is actually the brainchild of the good folks at the California couture shop, Brooklyn Projects. The Los Angeles-based shop opted for a frayed look at the toe-box and quarter panel which came out quite nice. The suede is meant to look as if it were smeared with blood, and is juxtaposed with a smoother leather swoosh. The other defining features of these Dunks come by way of the denim heel, and the wax-coated laces. The rustic feel these kicks espouse gives the effect of making them look years worn the day you crack open the box. The look has been achieved by Nike before and as with the previous experiments, this kick is sure to be polarizing, with fans and critics. While there is no word on price point nor release date, it has been rumored these are limited to 814 pairs. The shoes are sure to be highly sought after, so get a look look and decide for yourself if they’re worth the pursuit.
This shoe before started out in all black but all it took was the addition of infrared in a few key places and the shoe has been drastically improved upon. Take a closer look at it and tell us what you think about the new look of this Nike Dunks shoe.

The 15 Dumbest Things About the NBA Playoffs
Kobe Bryant's bad shoes, three-point line inaccuracies, over-protected
refs, too much Blake Griffin, not enough Z-Bo, Stan Van Gundy misdirecting blame, Gregg Popovich missing the point, Shaquille O'Neal missing in action, missing the cheerleaders and other reasons why even an exciting NBA postseason is proving to be pretty dumb.
